Jennifer Blender

Artist Biography:
At the age of twelve, one uneventful summer I decided to go through my mom's "storage room." She had a sewing machine and stand, as well as fabrics she had purchased back in the seventies and eighties. I spent the entire day cleaning out that room, and the next several years teaching myself the many skills of sewing. Eleven years later, I still enjoy making clothing, and have expanded my trade to include bedding, accessories, and draperies. I have always believed that clothing is a way through which people may express themselves without having to speak a word. Even those who claim to have no interest in fashion can use this medium to project their personalities to others. All of us are able to see an article and know that we would "never be caught dead wearing it." By offering custom-made clothing, for everyday wear and special occasions, I hope to encourage people to use their choice in wardrobe to show the characteristics they are most proud of in themselves.
