Cindy Allen

Artist Biography:
Born to stitch! Whether quilting, sewing or knitting (and most recently, using textile techniques to make silver wire jewelry!), my passion to design and create beautiful and functional items is deep-rooted. The cycle of learning, practicing, teaching, evolving, has provided a creative course that knows no bounds. My recent foray into hand-dyeing fibers using natural plant materials along with resist design techniques has opened a whole new world. Integrating my science background with art, extracting and combining dyestuffs, using mordants and dye assists to create color and textural effects, is a tremendously satisfying and creative vocation. Embellishment using stitching and beading adds greater dimension to many of my original designs. I do plan to add items to the GoZabo Gallery in the near future, including textural art cards of my work and a new collection of miniature kimono.
